Raymond Bernard Metzger Jr. "Sonny"

Age 82, of Brookville, Ohio passed into God’s loving hands on June 16, 2024 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 9, 1942, the son of Raymond Sr. and Veronica (Grillot) Metzger. He joined the Army in 1959 - 1962 in the artillery division and was stationed in Germany. He received his GED on May 7, 1987. Ray’s trade was a Journeyman Millwright, he worked at General Motors, for many decades, retiring in May 1999. Ray enjoyed farm life, horses, collectables, such as canes, primitives, antique cars, auctions, fabricating and being part of the community. Playing Santa for Nursing Homes, Churches and family events was his favorite pastime. He was a member of St. Augustine Church, horse clubs, car clubs and he belonged to multiple Trade Unions for Dayton and Cincinnati.

Survived by his wife Patricia Ann (Kearney) Metzger. Patty, the love of his life, married for 53 years, on March 6, 1971. His 3 daughters; Christina L. (Metzger) Werring (Timothy S. Werring), Colleen L. Metzger, Shannon E. Metzger, (Michael D. Roe). His sisters, Esther (Lloyd), Kathleen (William) Doyle, Mary (Bill) Lawson and his brother, John (Cindy) Metzger. Grandchildren, Shayna, William, Amber, Autumn, Terra, Garrick, Rebecca, Maxwell and Finnley. Great grandchildren, Riley, Josiah, Makenna and Gabriella, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents; Raymond Sr. and Veronica Metzger; sisters, Anna Metzger and Shirley (Metzger) Reed; brother-in-law Tim Lloyd; great-grandson Ezekiel, and many other loved ones.

Viewing will be held from 9:00am-10:30am with Mass of Christian Burial service to begin at 11:00am on Friday, June 21, 2024 all at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 6891 Weaver Rd, Germantown, Ohio 45327

Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery 9150 National Rd, Brookville, Ohio. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30am on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Golden Gate Park, Christena Leiber Center, Large side.
