Richard Thomas Mathews 88, of New Lebanon, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021. He was born May 23, 1932 to John and Lydia (Mays) Mathews in Dayton. Richard was in the Army and served a tour in the Korean War. Richard was a Pressman for 35 years and later became a Pipe Fitter, working with his son, Mark. He is survived by his children, Donna (Ronald) Day, Mark Mathews; grandchildren, Robert (Michelle) Mathews, Lindsey Warner Jones, Chris (Kristie) Mathews, Amanda Mathews, Marcus (Cassandra) Mathews, Courtney (Zach) Adams, Chad Dishman, Keira Gilkerson; sister, Loretta Mathews Brown; daughter-in-law, Rhoda Gilkerson; ex-wife, Millie Gilkerson; life-long friend, Maxine Dishman. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Lydia and John; brothers, Ralph Mathews, Edward Mathews, James Mathews; children, John Mathews, Rhonda Mathews, Robert Gilkerson. Visitation for Richard will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. The service will be streamed on the Rogers Funeral Homes Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/RogersFHinc/ Burial will take place at Bear Creek Cemetery immediately after the service.
