Robert E. Comer

COMER, Robert E. Age 90 of Trotwood, passed away, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013. He was born on Aug. 7, 1922 in Montgomery County, Ohio to his parents, Carl and Ruth Comer. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Comer Long; and his loving wife, Miriam Moon Comer. He is survived by his son, Larry Eugene (Candy) Comer, of Couer d'Alene, Idaho; 2 daughters, Roberta Eileen (Michael) Reiter, of Deer Park, WA, and Patricia Ann (Tracy) Hanning, of Dayton, OH; 3 grandchildren, Jill (Tyler) McElroy, Dale and Katie Comer; one great-granddaughter, Miriam Amelia McElroy; one niece, and two nephews. Robert graduated from Trotwood-Madison Schools and attended Miami University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines. He was a longtime member of the First Brethren Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher, and retired from NCR after nearly 40 years of service as a tool designer. Robert was an avid photographer, a member of the model railroad club in Vandalia, and loved to travel, especially out west. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Rogers' Funeral Home in Trotwood, with Pastor Phil Marxson officiating. Interment will follow at David Cemetery in Kettering. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the start of the service. Special thank you to the staff at Brookhaven nursing home for their wonderful care.
