LAY, Ronald Arthur Age 85, of Dayton, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 20, 2022. He was born in Newark, NY to this parents, Anson & Josephine (Polakiewicz) Lay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sons, Ronald A. Lay, Jr. and Robert A. Lay; sister, Dorothy Zulauf; and brother, Anson W. Lay, Jr. Ronald is survived by his wife, Nancy Emley-Lay; daughters, Alisa Jo Sherbeck, and Cynthia Denise Lacefield; grandchildren, Elaine Lay, Renee (Michael) Hoover, Lee Woodyard, Michael (Melisa) Woodyard, Chris (Amanda) Smith, and Dylan Brown; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Summers, A.J., Makayla, Marina, Cadence, Cayden, Lottie, and Emma; great-great-granddaughter, Blaikley; and step-children, Robin, Tony, Scott, and Laura. Ron was an honorable man who loved his country. He was a Marine Corp Veteran with the rank of Staff Sargeant. He served 2 tours in Vietnam. He received a Bronze Star Medal for bravery and many other citations. Ron was a truck driver for Southland Corp serving 7-11 and Auto Zone stores. Ron enjoyed camping, Ancestry, Riding his motorcycle across country, raising orchids and fixing things. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12:30pm at Dayton National Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to meet at First Baptist Church of New Lebanon, 335 S. Church St., New Lebanon, Ohio 45345 between 11:45am-12:00pm to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton or any Charity of your choice in Ron's name. Condolences may be expressed online at: www.RogersFuneralHomes.com
