JACKSON, Ruhle Palmer "P.J." "Pal" age 83, of Brookville, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. He was born September 8, 1930 in Toledo to the late Harry and Evelyn Jackson. Ruhle was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 42 years, Dolores; and father-in-law, Lawrence Bartocci. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Rose; daughters, Rulynn Slack, Elaine Piper, and Laura Davidson; son, John (Leslie) Jackson; step-sons, John (Donna) Downey, Jerry (Rhonda) Downey, and Joe (Patty) Downey; grandchildren, Matt Shiverdecker, Megan Lemay, Paige Piper, Lauren (Steve) Harker, Tara (Danny) Stallard, Stephen Davidson, Erin Jackson, Andrew Downey, Blake (Meredith) Downey, Jessie Downey, Kaylee Downey, Matthew Downey, and Austin Downey; great-grandchildren, Eli Lemay, Caden Harker, Gavin Harker, Noah Stallard, and Abigail Stallard; mother-in-law, Helen Bartocci; sisters-in-law, Janet (Dan) Owen and Karen Poe; brother-in-law, Bruce (Kathy) Masterson; nephew, Bruce Masterson, Jr.; and many more family and friends. While attending Rockford High School, he was a proud member of the basketball team that won the 1948 county championship, and went on to play semi-pro basketball after graduating. At a young age, Ruhle developed an interest in the printing trade and retired in 1994 from Dayton Legal Blank as a typesetter. He served our country from 1951 to 1955, during the Korean Conflict, in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Yosemite. Other things he enjoyed were biking, hunting, fishing, traveling, ice-skating, and wood working. The Visitation will be on Monday, February 10 from 10AM to 11AM at ROGERS' FUNERAL HOME, 324 W. Main St., New Lebanon. The Funeral Service will begin at 11AM with Pastor Mark Daniels, officiating. Burial will follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, Brookville. The family would like to extend its thanks to the staff of Brookhaven Nursing Home and Hospice for its wonderful care of Ruhle.
