THOMSON, Ruth Age 85 of Brookville, passed away with her daughter Michele and granddaughter Danielle holding her close on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton after a short illness. Ruth joins in Heaven her husband, Dr. Robert Thomson; daughter, Lisa R. Birt; brother, Edward Benton, and many other beloved family members that have passed. Ruth leaves behind her loving daughter, Michele Williams, and son-in-law Steve Williams; 2 granddaughters, Danielle (Williams) Coffman, and her husband Todd, and Desiree Birt; sister, Betty Pence; 3 great grandchildren, Nicholas Williams, and Brittany & Chelsea Phillips; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Gracie Williams: sister-in-law, Shirley Benton; and of course her loving dog, Cher. A special "thank you" to lifelong friends Eddie & Kathy Fairchild for their love and support for Ruth. Ruth was a true renaissance woman, gifted in music, cooking, art and gardening. Ruth fought courageously to the end because she genuinely loved life. Ruth accepted and loved everyone and overlooked the flaws in each of us. Ruth was a gentle soul, generous with everyone and she often overlooked her own needs for the needs of others. Ruth spoke openly of love and kindness every day of her too short life. Her family and wide circle of friends grieve for her loss and will keep this beautiful and loving, generous and kind woman in their hearts forever. A visitation for friends and family will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at Rogers' Funeral Home in Trotwood. A private graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery the following day.
