Shade H. Hackney

Hackney, Shade Houston age 64, of Riverside, passed away at Hospice after a brief but courageous battle with glioblastoma, on Sun. Feb 26th 2017. He was born May, 8 1952 in Jellico TN, the son of Houston and Daisy Hackney. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Janice Seth and brothers Duffy & Ricky Hackney. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Darlene; sons Shade (Molly) of Troy, Tony of Englewood, and Paul (Rebecca) of Jamestown; 15 grandchildren, Ashton, Cody, Kyle, Kody, Alan, Macy, Kelsey, Zach, Makayla, Alex, Andrew, Paul, Levi, Kaydee and Kylee; and 1 great grandchild, Gavyn; brothers Jimmy Hackney, Chuck (Brenda) Hackney, Robert (Sandra) Hackney, and Jeff Hackney; sisters, Brenda Sizemore, Carla (Steve) Pigg, Sherry (Mike) Hartfelder, Sandy (John) Freels and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and numerous relatives and friends. Shade was previously employed at American Aggregates, Navistar and Barrett Paving. Shade was a member of Trotwood Baptist Church for over 30 years, where he served as a deacon. One of Shade’s greatest joys in life was to watch his grandkids play sports and attend various school functions. Shade also enjoyed reading his bible and going to movies and dinner with his wife, whom he often called “rosie”. Shade will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Shade was a friend to anyone he met. Shade had a great love for all his family and friends, especially his grandkids and most of all his wife. Shade’s family will like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Hospice for their help and compassionate care. The family will receive friends on Saturday March 4th at Trotwood Baptist Church from 1000-1130 am with a memorial service immediately following with Pastor Randy Salyer officiating. Shade will be laid to rest at Bearcreek Cemetery 172 N. Union Rd, Dayton OH. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at any 5/3rd bank in Shade’s name
