ROE, Sharon Lynne (Griffin), age 76, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014. Known for her vibrant personality and "never give up" attitude, Lynne was an inspiration to everyone around her. One couldn't help by smile in her presence or giggle to the tune of her contagious, one of a kind, laugh. In her younger years, Lynne participated in numerous rodeo events including goat tying and barrel racing. She was also a 4H advisor who taught her students how to square dance on horseback. All of this while taking care of a family and raising two daughters. In 1964, Lynne's entire life changed. A month long coma and 100% hearing loss due to a major head injury, Lynne was told she would possibly never regain the ability to walk and would never ride horses again. Lynne's spirit never heard the word "can't". She learned to lip read, so as not to limit her communication with only people who could sign. She volunteered with mentally and psychically challenged children as a way of reaching out to others who needed love and compassion. She became a certified master dog groomer. Lynne and her husband, Jack, raced Thoroughbred race horses and raised Boxers. Not only did she obviously walk again, she also had another child, danced, went fishing, planted a garden, worked in her flower beds … and because of her fierce love of animals, she even rode horses again eventually. Lynne was always a great example of perseverance in the face of overwhelming odds. Lynne's family & many friends will long remember her for her genuine laugh, kind soul, and her uncanny ability to see good in everyone. Lynne was born May 22, 1937. She was preceded in death by husband Jack H. Roe, parents Orville and Elizabeth Griffin, and daughters Lori Lynn and Tori Lee. She is survived by her daughter DoriAnn Allen (Brad Stivers) of New Vienna; sister Bess Burns of Kettering; grandchildren Krystal, Tina, Christopher, Destiny, Kaitlynne, Daniel and Alec Jacob; Katelyn & Blake Stivers, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She is also survived by her best friends Peggy Marlow and Melanie Dodson as well as her 4-legged best friend, C.C. A Memorial visitation will be held on Sat.
