Vesper V. Zerkle

ZERKLE, Vesper Viola (Bartlett) Vesper Zerkle passed away January 13, 2019 at the age of 101 in Greenville at the Brethren Retirement Community. Formerly of Trotwood and Xenia, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ward; and son, Jamie Scott. She is survived by children Curt, Lynn, and Zandra; daughters-in-law, Jo Ellen and Peg; nine grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Vesper was devoted to her husband and family. She taught piano and served the church and community, playing tuba and the upright string bass. With her quirky sense of humor, she made up “end men” and wrote jokes for the Madison Minstrels. She typed her husband’s correspondence flawlessly on the old Olympia typewriter and cooked hundreds of meals for neighbors and friends. She loved the Lord and lived a rich, full life. A celebration of life will take place Wednesday, January 16, at Rogers’ Funeral Home in Trotwood. Visitation will begin at 12:30pm followed by a service at 1:30pm and burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
