Walter "Walt" Harold Miniard II ,passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio, just on his 61st birthday. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on May 10, 1965, Walt was a lifelong resident of the area and an alumnus of Trotwood-Madison High School.
Walt’s career was marked by dedication and hard work. He spent most of his life as a lead supervisor for ABM and concluded his professional journey in 2024 as a driver for Already There Towing. He took great pride in his work and was beloved by colleagues and friends alike.
A man of great cheerfulness and outgoing nature, Walt cared deeply about his family and long-time friends. His presence was a staple at every family gathering, holiday event, high school reunion, and party. He had a passion for collecting trucks, cars, and a wide array of other treasures, exchanging lively conversations about vehicles with anyone interested. His love also extended to his little doggies and, of course, chocolate of all kinds.
Some of Walt’s proudest accomplishments were being a devoted dad and a loving Papaw. He cherished his mother, Geraldine Miniard, and was deeply devoted to his sons Bradley Heys, Tyler Miniard, and Walter Harold Miniard III "Trey," as well as his daughter-in-law Lacie Heys and his granddaughter Maisyn Heys. His long-time girlfriend, Janetta Davidson, and nephews Michael Shafer and Joshua Shafer also held a special place in his heart. Walt experienced profound loss with the passing of his father, Walter Harold Miniard Sr., his brother Calvin Keith Miniard, and his sister Teresa Ann Miniard-Fergison.
Walt’s final months were marked by a courageous battle against cancer. Despite aggressive treatment, his illness progressed rapidly. His family stood resolutely by his side through appointments, hospital visits, and care, enduring the emotional toll of his declining health. His passing has left an indelible impact on all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 11:30am-1:30pm on Friday, May 22, 2026 at Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon. Funeral service will begin at 1:30pm. Burial to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Trotwood.
Walter “Walt” Miniard’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and dedication—to his family, friends, and work. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. www.RogersFuneralHomes.com
