William T. Goodman, affectionately known as Tommy, passed away at the age of 50 on March 2, 2026, in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Born on March 6, 1975, William dedicated his life not only to his impressive career as an Electronic Engineer with AK Steele but also to the joy and laughter he brought to those around him.
A proud veteran, William served four years in the Navy followed by two years in the Reserves. His commitment to his service was a reflection of his character—humble, kind, and dedicated. After his military service, he pursued his passion for technology, earning an Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering, which paved the way for a fulfilling career that he approached with great enthusiasm, often working long hours without complaint.
William was well-known for his warm smile that could light up any room, a magnetic personality that drew people in, His gentle nature and great sense of humor endeared him to family and friends alike. Anyone who knew him knew the love he had for is wife, and her him, was unmatched and unlike any other. From a young age, he displayed a playful spirit, famously scaring his sister and delighting in the simple joys of life. A particularly charming childhood memory reveals his youthful mischief when he opened all the windows and doors of the house, explaining to his mother that he wanted to warm up outside to play.
Family meant the world to William. He is survived by his loving wife, Haley Thomas-Goodman; his mother, Patricia Goodman; and his sister, Tammy L. Buerger, along with her husband, Javon Morrow. His nieces and nephew Dylan Buerger , Bella Morrow, and Aubreyona Morrow. He cherished his in-laws, including Kathy and Roger Thomas and sister-in-law Hannah Thomas, and her children Zaqi Thomas, and Ziar Thomas, all of whom held a special place in his heart. His legacy continues through his beloved children, Zoë Brooks and Christian Brooks, who brought him immense joy, as well as his grandchildren, Grayson and Bailey Brooks, who were a source of endless happiness and pride.
William also mourns the loss of his father, William C. Goodman; his grandmothers, Melda Bullion and Geneva Goodman; and his grandfathers, Jewel Bullion and Thomas Goodman. They shaped the foundation of his values and character, and their memories live on in the hearts of those he loved.
As we reflect on the life of William T. Goodman, we remember him as a gentle soul who faced struggles with courage, even when life seemed incredibly unfair. His passing has left a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him, and he will be deeply missed. His kindness, humor, and dedication will forever be cherished in the memories of his wife, family and friends.
A Celebration of William’s life will be held at 11:00am on 3/14/26 at Northridge Freewill Baptist Church, 4800 Payne Avenue, Dayton,Ohio 45414.
