William D. Peters, known as Bill to his friends and family, passed away on December 16, 2023, at the age of 77 in Kettering, Ohio. He was born on July 28, 1946, in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Bill moved to New Lebanon in the 5th grade and graduated from New Lebanon High School, and later attended Eastern Kentucky University. He had a great 45-year career at DP&L and Vectren, where he supervised numerous teams and helped communities in troubled times.
In addition to his professional achievements, Bill poured his heart into the role of a basketball coach for 15 years, where he mentored young athletes, teaching them the values of teamwork, integrity, and sportsmanship. His guidance on and off the court left a lasting impact on countless young lives. Additionally, his tenure as a Jackson Township Trustee for 10 years exemplified his dedication to his community.
Bill's love for golf was more than just a pastime; it was a thread that connected him to friends and the joy of the game. Those who knew Bill could easily describe him as fun loving and kind.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Peters, and his son, Bart Peters, daughter in-law Jenifer Peters, grandson Hudson Peters. Bill was a family man at heart, and nothing brought him more joy than the time he spent surrounded by his loved ones.
As we say goodbye to William D. Peters, we celebrate a life lived with laughter, love, and a deep commitment to others. His memory will continue to inspire, reminding us of the importance of kindness, the value of community, and the enduring power of a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed.
