Wharton, William James "Jim" Age 92, of New Lebanon, passed away December 26, 2011. The eldest son of William and Rose Wharton, he was born in Muncie, Indiana and was preceded in death by his wife, Betty. He is survived by his son, Bill Wharton, daughter Joy Wharton, and daughter Rose (Wharton) and Dave Felmet.He is survived by three grandchildren; Valerie Felmet, Evan Felmet, and Abigail (Felmet) Wilson. His brother Dick also survives. He was in the army and survived WWII, the European campaign. He was an active member of the Farmersville United Methodist Church for over 80 years. He sang in the church choir for over 75 years. He farmed for years and later worked at Inland Manufacturing. He worked in the brake-compounding lab and developed one of the first asbestos-free brake-lining compounds. He retired after 25 years of service. He and his wife of 62 years, Betty, enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling the world. The family will receive friends at Rogers Funeral Home, 324 West Main Street, New Lebanon on Friday, December 30 from 10 am -Noon. Service will follow at Noon with burial at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Siena Woods, 6125 N. Main St., Dayton, Ohio 45415.
